THANKS A LOT
SuperThank’s 4th Annual Airing of Grievances
Some History About The Event
We know why it’s important to express gratitude: It makes you healthier, happier and more productive. It helps others to be more of those good things too. But being able to recognize the negative is also good. It makes the positive stuff more meaningful, more authentic and sincere.
So why do an Airing of Grievances, which sounds very different than expressing gratitude?
Psychological studies have shown that there’s a sort of magical ratio, where if you’re positive at least three times for each one time you’re negative, you’ll be healthier and happier. But at some point — maybe an 11 to 1 ratio — the happiness curve starts to bend the other direction.
At some point we don’t believe it anymore. We resist.
And so once each year, we have a purge. It’s an Airing of Grievances — with a few silver linings. Gratitude in disguise.
Meet one of our past storytellers, Patrick Griffin, and listen to his grievance.
